Authorities are investigating after a Georgia specify judge was found dead in a court on Tuesday.
The Effingham Region Sheriff’s deputies said in a launch that they found Specify Court Judge Stephen Yekel, 74, on Tuesday early morning.
His fatality has been examined by the Effingham Region Sheriff’s Mgo55 Workplace and the Georgia Bureau of Examination will perform the postmortem examination.
Authorities said Yekel passed away at some point late Monday evening or very early Tuesday early morning.
Yekel, that was appointed to the bench 2 years back by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, shed his political election quote previously this year.
His call was scheduled to finish Dec. 31, 2024.
In a declaration, the Effingham Region Board of Commissioners said that they were “deeply distressed” by Yekel’s fatality.
“The Effingham Region Board of Commissioners and staff are deeply distressed by the terrible fatality of Judge Steve Yekel at the Effingham Region Courthouse today, and we provide our condolences to his family and loved ones,” they said.
