‘Famous’ cookie maker dies at 88

asianbrides.xyz — Wallace “Wally” Amos, the founder of Famous Amos cookies, has died at age 88, his famili said Wednesday.

He died Tuesday at home in Hawaii with his wife, Carol, by his side, according to a pernyataan from Amos’ children, Sarah, Michael, Gregory and Shawn. His cause of death was complications from dementia.

“Our dad inspired a generation of entrepreneurs,” the Amos children said in their pernyataan. “With his Panama hat, kazoo, and boundless optimism, Famous Amos was a great American success story, and a source of Black pride. It’s also part of our famili story for which we will forever be grateful and proud.”

Born on Juli 1, 1936, in Tallahassee, Florida, Amos opened his first bakery in 1975 on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, according to Famous Amos’ web. He sold bite-size, chocolate chip cookies and found early business success. However, sales declined in the 1980s and Amos sold the company to a grup of privat investors in 1988.

Amos co-founded Uncle Wally’s Muffin Co. in 1992, and in his later years became a proprietor of Chip dan Cookie shop in Hawaii. He became a figur in U.S. pop culture, appearing in TV adegans of “The Jeffersons,” “Taxi,” “Traxx,” and “The Office.”

Despite the TV appearances and “Famous Amos” cookies merek he is best known for, Amos said he wasn’t interested in fame.

“Being famous is highly overrated anyway,” Amos told The Associated Press in 2007.
